Increase nutrient efficiency, opening up key nutrient pathways. eliminate non beneficial pests, soil borne disease, because of the chitinase enzyme in crustaceans. Improve plant stress, drought, heat. Increase root size from feeding plant growth hormones, cytokonins, auxins
Increase protein content (from increased of N in the Amino Acid From and improve protein synthesis efficiency. Improve carbon/water cycling, decreasing weed germination
Increase yield. Available / organic form of calcium. Neutralize and quiet the effects of aluminum, chloride.
Benefits including: Amino acid form of Nitrogen, provide energy to the plant to metabolize nutrients.  Setting the stage for next years crops by providing the fungi responsible for crop residue breakdown to deny over-wintering habitat to potential plant pests and pathogens, releases nutrients to feed next crop and ramp up beneficial microbe population for beneficial functions for the next crop, e.g. stress tolerance, nutrient status, disease suppression and protection, etc. Improved soil structure drains faster and holds more water.
